Many women suffer in silence when it comes to talking about sexual problems. Menopause, child-birth and even the natural ageing process can result in a loss of sensation, decreased sexual enjoyment and functional issues in the vaginal region. The O-Shot, or Orgasm injections, is a pioneering new non-surgical technique which involves Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) being injected into the vagina in order to rejuvenate it and enhance sexual pleasure. The O-Shot treatment can also improve function and relieve conditions such as stress urinary incontinence.

The procedure works by using the body’s natural ability to heal and rejuvenate itself by injecting growth factor rich Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) into the vagina to stimulate a regenerative process. It is the same technique used for the Vampire Facelift whereby a small amount of blood is taken from the arm and then placed in a centrifuge where the plasma is then harvested. This plasma contains cell-regenerating growth factors, which, when injected into the vagina, trigger stem cells to grow healthier vaginal tissue.

There are a number of sexual arousal disorders that the O-Shot can be used to addresses. It is estimated that as many as 1 in 20 women suffer from Female Sexual Arousal Disorder, which means that, while they may want to have sex, they find it difficult to get aroused, experience pleasure or achieve orgasm. Around 5% of women are also thought to suffer from Female Orgasmic Disorder, where they can become aroused by have difficulty achieving orgasm. Some women also suffer with pain during and after sex, which is not from decreased lubrication or vaginal spasm, some suffer from stress urinary incontinence especially after delivery, If you have any of these problems then the O-Shot could be a solution for you. As with any treatment, you will need to have a consultation with doctor first in order to assess your suitability and rule out any contraindications.
As a non-surgical solution, there is minimal pain and discomfort associated with the O-Shot treatment with some patients reporting experiencing no pain at all. The procedure is performed under local anaesthetic to minimise any pain.
One of the big advantages of the O-Shot treatment is that you can return to your normal activities immediately after treatment. Sexual intercourse can even be resumed the same day.

Patients who have undergone the O-Shot procedure have reported:

  • Greater arousal from clitoral stimulation.
  • Younger, smoother skin of the vulva (lips of the vagina).
  • A tighter introitus (vaginal opening).
  • Stronger orgasm.
  • More frequent orgasm.
  • Increased sexual desire.
  • Increased ability to have a vaginal orgasm.
  • Decreased pain for those with dyspareunia (painful intercourse).
  • Increased natural lubrication.
  • Decreased urinary incontinence.

For most women, the results of the treatment usually last for up to 12 months. But this can vary with each individual, and for some women the results last up to three years.

Some patients ask us whether, because they have found the results so successful, it’s best to repeat the procedure every year. If you are considering this, we will need to have a full consultation with you each time, to make sure the PRP treatment continues to be the best and most suitable treatment for you.

There shouldn’t be any reason for a negative response to this treatment, especially as the procedure involves removing and re-injecting the body’s own naturally-occurring fluid. Therefore a bad reaction is unlikely and we have not had any reports of bad reactions from all the procedures undertaken.
