Our MASSAGE TREATMENTS

Swedish massage is the most popular type of massage and most-known type of bodywork performed today. Its primary goal is to relax the entire body by rubbing and kneading the soft tissues such as first layers of muscles, tendons and ligaments. This is done by using light pressure with long gliding strokes along the direction of blood returning to the heart.

Swedish massage is highly beneficial for increasing the level of oxygen in the blood, decreasing muscle toxins, improving circulation and flexibility while easing tension.

Other benefits of Swedish Massage:

  • Helps to regulate the digestive system
  • Encourages deeper breathing, by releasing tension from the chest and the upper part of the back
  • Balances fluids concentration in the body
  • Improves lymphatic drainage of metabolic waste
  • Loosens joints and improves range of motion
  • Calms the nervous system

Swedish massage therapy combined with remedial natural aromatic oil. Inhaling and absorbing the oil through the skin is beneficial to the mind and body. It affects the brain‘s limbic system that is known to influence the emotion, behaviour, motivation and long-term memory.

  • In addition, these natural oils are used to treat pain, muscle spasms, stiffness, depression, insomnia, asthma, congestion and hypertension

Whilst having some of the same benefits as the Swedish massage, Deep Tissue massage is very effective in releasing chronic muscle tension. The treatment focuses on the deepest layers of muscle tissue, tendons and fascias (the protective layer around muscles), bones and joints.

Unlike Swedish massage, that uses light pressure, Deep Tissue massage is done using deep pressure with strokes that are firm and slow.

Deep tissue massage has several therapeutic effects and can be used to treat different musculoskeletal issues. It is ideal for the treatment of major muscle groups like the neck or lower back. This technique can also be used to relieve strain and treat injuries in the joints and tendons.

Other benefits of Deep Tissue massage:

Physical benefits:

  • Improves the circulation of body fluids
  • Loosens tension of muscles and ligaments
  • Improves the balance of the body
  • Improves mobility
  • Loosens joints and improves their range of motion
  • Helps to balance the autonomic nervous system
  • Helps to re-establish proper tonus through its effect on the neuromuscular reflex pathways.

Mental and emotional benefits:

  • Releases emotional and psychological stress
  • Improves self-confidence
  • Improves the quality of life

What to expect?

Deep tissue massage is used for therapy and rehabilitation, and less for relaxation. Clients should be prepared to feel some level of discomfort or even pain (we call it “good pain”) during a deep tissue massage and possibly for a few days after. However, successful treatment will have long term remedial effect on chronic pain and musculoskeletal issues.

The effectiveness of the treatment relies largely on good communication between the therapist and the client. It is important to notify your therapist of any intense discomfort or pain as this can affect the successes of the treatment.

Sports massage is an important part of any physical training. Sports massage helps to prevent injuries by keeping muscles mobile and elastic. It also helps to preserve muscle condition and health. It shortens the recovery time between workouts by improving oxygen and nutrients flow as well as flushing out toxins in muscles that have been pushed hard.

Sports massage also helps to speed up injury recovery time. Untreated injuries can cause build-up of scar tissue in the injured areas which can also spread and damage healthy tissue.

Sports massage uses techniques to break down scar tissue to prevent further pain and additional damage.

A typical Sports Massage session  consists of strokes to the deep tissue, stretching and active or passive movement of the joints.

If you are training for an upcoming event, we will work with you to create a treatment plan to make sure you are in optimal shape to the upcoming event.

Self-care and regular massage treatments are particularly important during pregnancy. Pregnancy(Prenatal) massages are adapted and designed for the anatomical changes the body is going  through during pregnancy and suitable for women that are 12 weeks pregnant or more (massages should be avoided during the first three months of pregnancy as it may trigger dizziness and add to morning sickness).

Pregnancy Massage provides relaxation by relieving stress on joints, eases neck and back pain, helps to keep good posture and provides flexibility to birthing muscles. It also aids the circulatory and lymphatic systems, which keeps blood flowing to both the mother and the baby.

Other important benefits of Pregnancy massage:

  • Reduces and stabilizes stress hormones in the body
  • Flushes out toxins from the body
  • The nurturing touch promotes relaxation and provides emotional support
  • Relieves headaches caused by tension in the face, neck, and shoulders
  • Can provide temporary relief from aches and pains associated with pregnancy
  • Can reduce swelling of the hands and feet (as long as that swelling isn’t a result of preeclampsia)
  • lifts depression without the use of medication

Chiro (Xiro) is a preventive and rejuvenating face, neck and décolleté massage.

The technique was developed by Professor Enrique Garcia Castells, Professor of Manual Therapy “INMASTER”.

The treatment involves the systems of the body that activate healthy and beautiful appearance.

Mainly:

  • nervous system – system relaxation increases resistance to stress
  • skin –outermost layer of the epidermis is removed, production of new cells is accelerated and skin elasticity is increased (firmness).
  • vascular and lymphatic system – the skin gets a healthy and luminous color, swelling under the eyes is reduced, accumulated toxins are removed, wrinkle formation is suspended, wrinkle depth is significantly reduced.

The effect of the anti-aging facial massage can be seen after the very first massage session. The special technique of the Chiro massage increases tone of deep facial and mimic muscles, improves blood circulation and skin elasticity. The anti-aging massage helps to eliminate facial muscle tension, prevents the formation of new wrinkles and reduces the existing ones. It also has a lifting effect which is a way to rejuvenate facial skin without the help of a plastic surgeon.

These classes focus on the fine details of yoga postures and breathing, working on both your body and the mind. Generally, our yoga classes start with meditation and pranayama (manipulation of the breath) and warm-up postures, followed by standing and seated asanas, and a relaxing savasana to finish. You’ll hold postures longer than in a flowing vinyasa class, so you can explore the technical aspects and the effects internally. Teachers of this class come from a variety of backgrounds and will have their own individual way of teaching.
Open to all levels from complete beginners to the more experienced as the teacher adapts the class according to the students.

Laima Maya

Laima Maya is a highly skilled and passionate holistic therapist.

She is a massage therapist and Hatha yoga teacher registered in Yoga Alliance and Fedaration of Holistic Therapists. She is also professor (PhD) of psychology.

Laima’s interest in yoga came through her psychology studies and later psychology teaching at university. Whilst teaching her students self-control and emotional management, she noticed that modern psychology does not give all the answers. Therefore, she began to seek wisdom in more than 3000 years of experience-based science – Yoga and Ayurveda.

She has been able to take the 30 years of influences of many teachings, rituals and traditions and apply them into her yoga practice. She has a keen interest in Ayrveda Therapy, Meditation, Rebirthing, Breathing and Sound Healing. Sound healing with singing Tibetan bowls, crystal bowls, Shamanic drums and koshi bells is always incorporated at the end of the yoga lessons in order to make the client’s bodies more relaxed after activities in asanas.

She believes in the power of balancing mind and body as the key to alleviating pain, tension, stress and psychosomatic disorders. Drawing on her knowledge and a range of techniques, Laima uses an integrative approach, tailoring each treatment to the individual’s needs.

She says: “As massage therapist, I‘d like to put people in touch through the touch”. She offers a range of therapies including Deep Tissue Massage, Swedish Massage Therapy, Ayurvedic Body Massage (Abyanga), Indian Head Massage, Ayrvedic Foot Massage (Padabyanga) and Anti-ageing Facelift massage.
